Course contextualizes the Firearm Safety Course of Te Tare Pureke / Firearm Safety Authority for safe and responsible firearm use by game animal hunters. This delivers foundational, context-relevant education on safe, responsible and considerate firearm use for New Zealand’s largest firearm user group.

Theory, responsibility and safety best practices for pig hunters, co-developed with expertise of the NZ Pig Hunting Association. This is intended to raise the bottom bar for pig hunting, and provide a place for those interested in pig hunting but no contacts to start.

Annual quiz and user survey. Designed to support continuous resource improvement through the survey, and through the quiz provide an annual cross-sector contact opportunity to train NZ hunters off any problematic behaviours, technology or trends, and highlight valuable techniques and updates in NZ hunting for the year. A critical annual touch-point with ‘graduates’ of Better Hunting to retain currency.

Trackable completion on education briefing for purpose of tahr ballot access into Landsborough and Adams Wilderness Areas (collab with NZ Tahr Foundation and Department of Conservation). Provides guidance on trophy animal selection, the female-targeting purpose, and conservation around kea and behaviour.

Education, guidance and database supporting meat-safety audit trail from hunter to charitable organized meat donation groups. This is designed to make it easier for small groups set up safe and secure meat audit trails, with the goal of increasing the number and performance of these groups across New Zealand. This facilitates the many increased recreational hunter impacts on game animal management and community nourishment factors that are part of the wild game meat donation concept.

Map resource to link locations across many public map resources. This tool helps hunters plan hunts and explore new areas by making it easier to compare locations across different maps, thereby increasing their recreational hunting pressure on game animal populations.
